GLAMPING STAY
City: Kingston, NY | Hudson Valley. 200 North St, Kingston, NY 12401
DO WORTHY | REVIEW | NY/NJ/PA
If you like the idea of being in touch with nature, but still want running water, a working toilet, cocktails on demand, breakfast delivered, bluetooth sound speakers, a plug for your iPhone/iPad charger, and climate controlled, mosquito free sleeping quarters, then a perhaps a glamping stay at Hutton Brickyards should be on your radar. When glamping at Hutton Brickyards, one can unplug as much, or as little as you want here. All of this in the comfort of your own private cabin.
The Hutton name comes from William Hutton and John Cordts who purchased the land along the Hudson River in 1865. Hutton Brickyards quickly became a major manufacturer of quality brick, operating continually for more than 100 years (1865 to 1980). Although the business prospered through the Industrial Revolution, WWI and WWII, the Hutton family decided to leave the brick industry in the 1960s.
The legacy of the Hutton brick makers lives on today as the current owner preserves, restores, and reimagines the Hutton Brickyards as a world-class event destination. It has been painstakinly restored to honor the rich history of the site for a new generation. Being just a scenic 2 hour drive north from New York City makes going to Hutton Brickyards a very DO WORTHY get away.

Entrance to the Hutton Brickyards expansive grounds
After checking in, you park your car in a lot, and then get driven to your cabin. No cars on the grounds, just the golf carts. We had a not so little visitor that hitched hiked with us in the corner of the golf cart. He was gigantic, but luckily we didn’t bother him, and he didn’t bother us the the whole ride there.
There are various levels of King and Queen Cabins, depending on whether you prefer river or forest view. Additionally, you can choose to be located more central to everything or more remote and further into the forest.
King Cabins
With modern lines inspired by the Shaker aesthetic, Hutton Brickyards’ King Cabins cut a striking figure against the landscape. Each is a haven of modern conveniences and timeless style, situated within the natural sublime. The comforts of an urban luxury hotel are seamlessly woven into this rustic experience.
Queen Cabins
Hudson Valley scenery has inspired creativity and whispered to explorers for centuries. Our bespoke Queen Cabins situate guests in the heart of Hutton Brickyards’ landscape, like a jewel box of comfort. The spacious decks are best enjoyed with coffee or a cocktail in hand. Inside, the sun-drenched interiors invite lazy mornings in bed.
Additional amenities include fold-down futon, in-room safe, air conditioning, mini-fridge, apothecary bath amenities, and Bluetooth speaker.
We chose the Riverview Queen Cabin for the picturesque “window frame” river view
Riverview Queen Cabin
Our delightful Riverview Queen cabins recall a timeless upstate experience of simple pleasures outdoors. Set upon a gentle hill next to the historic engine house, these cabins feature larger windows over the queen bed with a distanced view to the river. Steps from the restaurant and event pavilions, guests in these cabins are near the heart of the action at Hutton Brickyards. A communal firepit and charming outdoor lounge seating underscore the fun, spontaneous style of these accommodations.
Inside our 200 sq ft of glamping… complete with air-conditioning, running water, and working toilet.
Pretty roomy bathroom and shower, for glamping standards
Thirsty Banner
After settling into our cabin, we put out our yellow “Thirsty” banner. Then, we happily waited for the happy hour golf cart to come by.
Archery
Lots of on-site amenities and activities, from yoga to hiking to spa & sauna. Check out their list here. We took advantage of the complimentary archery lessons. The instructor was very experienced, and a great teacher.
Not to shabby for hitting the target after only one lesson!
Relax
Beautiful grounds all around to sit, relax, or play a game of cornhole.
The Lidgerwood crane in the background serves as an iconic reminder of our manufacturing past. It is the only surviving examples of brick making architecture in the Hudson Valley region.
Sip and savor
Open air bar & lounge with a beautiful view of the Hudson river | Adirondack chairs everywhere
The River Pavilion
Uninterrupted panoramas of the Hudson River set the stage for unforgettable experiences. By daylight, sunset and starlight, guests enjoy a pageant of clouds, color, and activity on the water. Food at The River Pavilion was fantastic, and warrants it’s own separate post.
Sunset… time for bed soon
Breakfast in Bed
Breakfast was delivered with coffee/ tea in an old school thermos I haven’t used in decades. Just the perfect touch, waking up to a hot thermos. We also received a selection of fruits & yogurt. It felt like we were roughing it, without roughing it. A beautiful river view from our window while our bluetooth speaker played our music genre of choice in the background. Technology meets nature. The perfect balance of both worlds indeed.
Final sip while soaking in all the natural beauty of the Hudson Valley. Thanks for a relaxing time Hutton Brickyards!
